Need to escape and get away from everything? Well, not quite everything - your dirt bike and your mates would be coming with… that’s a given.
Pioneer Valley Enduro Club’s famous Retreat 2-Day Trail Ride is gearing up again for March 9-10, at the renowned “Our Retreat” Station, on the Peak Downs Highway at Epsom, south west of Mackay.
The weekend features a track for all levels – with Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced level senior tracks, as well as Junior Easy and Junior Hard loops and a Pee Wee track.
The renowned “Our Retreat” station attracts riders from far and wide for its variety, says Pioneer Valley Enduro Club President Shane Bussey.
“There are creeks, gullies, and about 6 different soil types, with black soil, sand, and hills of all descriptions… it’s a prime location for a motorcycle event.”
“We have a very dedicated team of club members that help mark out tracks and maintain our facilities. Our members mark out kilometres of fresh trails each time, so with this many tracks, they never get congested.
“With only 5 or 6 weeks to go we were going to start marking this weekend, but it could be a bit damp. We’ve had good rain in the Mackay area since early December. A few places around here have had 200mm in the last two days!”
Shane is expecting around 300 riders for this year’s event, which offers both one or two-day options.
