Become an Accredited Official with Motorcycling Queensland
Motorcycling Queensland offers a comprehensive training and accreditation program for officials across the state. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to advance your qualifications, the pathway is clearly structured and supported through free training seminars and the online Motorcycling Australia Learning Centre (MALC).
Step 1: Apply for a Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
Queensland law requires all persons working with children under 18 to hold a valid Blue Card.
- Involves a police screening process.
- Valid for 3 years and must be renewed before expiry.
- Required before applying for any Officials or Coaches Accreditation.
Step 2: Complete the Level 1 Operational Officials Course
This free introductory course is available online via the Motorcycling Australia Learning Centre (MALC).
It provides essential knowledge and is the first step toward accreditation.
Step 3: Start Logging Experience
Once you’ve:
- Obtained your Blue Card, and
- Completed the Level 1 Operational Officials Course,
Once approved, you’ll be upgraded and receive your updated accreditation via RiderNet and you’ll be issued a Participation Journal to begin recording your officiating experience.
Step 4: Continue with Key Official Training (Optional)
If you’d like to become a Key Official (e.g., Clerk of Course, Steward, Race Secretary, Scrutineer), you’ll need to complete additional training:
- If the course is online (e.g., Clerk of Course):
Complete the MALC training and attend a brief follow-up seminar with our experienced presenters. - If the course is not yet online:
Attend an in-person, discipline-specific training seminar.
Training pass mark requirements:
• Level 2: 75%
• Level 3: 90%
• Level 4: 95%
Note: New officials can only begin at Level 2 or below.
Step 5: Gain Practical Experience & Submit Your Application
To complete your accreditation as a Key Official:
✅ Assist in the role at two permitted events
✅ Act in the role at one permitted event
✅ Have your Supervising Official complete an Officials Assessment Form
✅ Submit the completed:
- Officials Accreditation Application Form
- A copy of your Participation Journal
- Completed Official Assessment Form (from an “acting in role” event)
Once approved, you’ll be upgraded and receive your updated accreditation via RiderNet.

MALC Courses
🟢 Level 1 Operational Official
An entry-level course designed for new officials, providing the foundational knowledge to begin officiating at motorcycle sport events.
🟡 Recreational Supervisor
Prepares individuals to safely manage and oversee non-competitive riding activities and recreational rides.
🔵 Common Modules
A compulsory course for all Key Official pathways, covering core concepts and responsibilities shared across all advanced officiating roles.
🔴 Clerk of Course
Teaches the skills needed to safely and fairly oversee competitive events.
🟣 Club Coach
Designed for individuals who wish to coach riders at a grassroots level, focusing on safety, development, and effective coaching techniques.
Apply / Renew Your Accreditation
Level 2 & 3:
Valid for 4 years.
RiderNet will send renewal reminders.
✅ Submit an Officials Application form
✅ Provide experience in the last 4 years
✅ Provide an Official Assessment form completed by a senior official
✅ Hold a valid Blue Card
✅ Send to: development@mqld.org.au
Once approved, your updated accreditation will be displayed via RiderNet.
Level 4:
Managed by Motorcycling Australia.
Valid for 4 years. RiderNet will send renewal reminders.|
✅ Submit a Level 4 Officials Application form
✅Attendance at a relevant Level 4 seminar (within the past 4 years)
✅ Provide experience in the last 4 years
✅ Provide an Official Assessment form completed by a senior official
✅ Hold a valid Blue Card
✅ Send to: development@mqld.org.au
Once endorsed, Motorcycling Queensland will submit your application to Motorcycling Australia on your behalf.
Upgrading Your Accreditation
Officials may apply to upgrade at any time, at no cost.
For Level 3 Upgrades:
✅ Submit an Officials Application form
✅ Provide experience via a copy of your Participation Journal (from an “acting in role” event)
✅ Provide an Official Assessment form completed by a senior official (from an “acting in role” event)
✅ Hold a valid Blue Card
✅ Send to: development@mqld.org.au
Once approved, your updated accreditation will be display via RiderNet.
For Level 4 Upgrades:
✅Attendance at a relevant Level 4 seminar (within the past 4 years)
✅ Submit a Level 4 Officials Application form
✅ Provide experience via a copy of your Participation Journal (from an “acting in role” event)
✅ Provide an Official Assessment form completed by a senior official (from an “acting in role” event)
✅ Hold a valid Blue Card
✅ Send to: development@mqld.org.au
Once approved, your updated accreditation will be display via RiderNet.
