Blue
Card (Working
with children check)
In
2003 the Queensland State Government introduced a new procedure
for any person engaged in working (voluntarily and professionally)
with children (under 18 years).
The
new procedure – know as the Working With Children Check
and managed by the Commission for Children and Young People
and Child Guardian requires all persons engaged in such work
to complete an application to undergo a screening process.
The
screening process is undertaken to ensure that only suitable
persons are eligible to work in an unsupervised capacity with
children.
Persons
who pass the screening process are subsequently issued with
a Blue Card, which remains current for a period of 2 years
after which individuals must re-apply to renew their Blue
Card.
Motorcycling
Queensland has adopted this practice and as such requires
that any person applying for either an Officials or Coaches
Licence, must first apply for and be issued with a current
Blue Card.
Blue Card Application Forms are available from here.
More
information on the Blue Card procedure is available from the
Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian
website.
