Great
Western Hotel set to host
Rockhampton Indoor Motocross

The Rosenberg Motorcycles
Indoor Motocross is looming large on the horizon – Saturday
July 12 at the Great Western Hotel Rockhampton.
This unique event has been thrilling crowds and giving riders
a different perspective for 6 years and 2008 will be no different.
The banked tiered
seating around three quarters of the covered arena enable
spectators to really see what it’s like
to race a motorbike up close and personal.
Running on the Supercross
format of qualifying heats, last chance and semi finals,
6 bikes race in the tight confines of what on a normal
night is a bull ring. The track
built in a 50 x 50 square metre area is also in keeping with
Supercross tracks.
That’s where the similarity
ends. The free flowing style motocross jumps allow for a
range of riders from pee wee to professionals to carve up
the 200 metre track which the pro riders will negotiate in
approximately 22 seconds.
Supplementary Regulations
are available from here. Numbers
are limited, so get in early.

An
update on the CQ Motocross Jamie Elliott
Appeal
Blackwater Junior Motorcycle
Club member - Brett Gook sent an email through to the Motorcycling
Queensland office recently with an update on the CQ Motocross
Jamie Elliott Appeal. Here's an extract...
JAMIE ELLIOTT CQ MOTOCROSS
APPEAL UPDATE
Jamie is now in the spinal unit at the PA Hospital in Brisbane
he transferred over to the PA on Monday the 26 May.
This is just a update for everyone that has helped in one
way or another with fundraising for the Elliott Family.
The
Blackwater Junior Motorcycle Club courtesy of Brett Gook
and Peter Matthews kicked off fundraising by donating a Beer
fridge full of beer and spirits as a raffle prize. which
was donated by the Blackwater Junior Motorcycle Club.
Round 4
of the Central Queensland Championships in Rockhampton saw
the Appeal's launch. With everyone
digging deep into their pockets, along with businesses and
some CQ Clubs within 2 weeks $6,500 had been raised.
Three
more clubs have since committed to donate $500 each,
taking the tally to $8,000. Our goal is $10,000 so we'd
love to hear from any other Clubs or individuals interested
in donating.
I would like to thank everyone for their great support. The generosity of clubs,
businesses and individuals has been amazing.
The
amount that has been raised is absolutely mind blowing,
not only for myself but also for the Elliott Family. The
Elliott's would like to thank everyone from the bottom of
their hearts, words cannot describe their gratitude.
So, if you have bought a ticket or two in the raffle be ready as the
lucky winner will be announced at the Longreach round of
the CQ Motocross Series on the 8 June 2008.
If anyone wants to donate to the Appeal cheques are to be
written out to JAMIE ELLIOTT and posted to:

Egerton
looking forward to 'home ground' advantage
Round 7 of the ‘Precise Corporation’ Central
Queensland Motocross Series heads to Longreach this Queen’s
Birthday long weekend, and local rider Richard Egerton will
be out to impress.
Egerton has been in outstanding form recently collecting
seven wins from his last seven starts across the Pro Open
and Pro Lites classes.
He credits his form to a rigorous pre season fitness regime.
“I started putting in the hard, base fitness work last November and feel
that it’s now all starting to pay off” said Egerton.
“A normal week will consist of 2 sessions with my personal trainer including
gym and cardio work, and then more gym session at home, as well as plenty of
cycling and time on the bike”.
Egerton’s 3 recent wins in the Lites class has seen
him move from third to second in the Series and close to
within 3 points of current leader Peter Stapleton. His 4
consecutive wins in the Pro Open class has seen him extend
his lead in this class to a very significant 39 point advantage.
Egerton is also competing in the South-East Queensland based
Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series where he is
currently leading the Expert Lites class with only 2 rounds
remianing.
Living in Barcaldine (approximately 520kms west of Rockhampton),
means that it’s always a huge ask just to be involved
in most events. Egerton estimates by the time motocross winds
down at the end of this year’s season he will have
covered nearly 50,000kms travelling too and from motocross
events.
On the extensive travel involved he commented; “although
it can certainly effect you, I try and ensure that all of
the time spent travelling is put to good use by resting up,
and getting myself mentally prepared for each event”.
He understands that it’s all part of the road in trying
to make it as a professional motorcycle rider.
“My short-term goal is to finish all of this year’s Series’ really
well, turn Pro, and really dedicate myself to the sport over the next couple
of years, and basically see where I can take it” Egerton explained.
Egerton heaped praise on his family for all of the support
that they have given him in pursuit of his dream. He also
thanked Rod Faggoter and all the guys at Centre Tune Motorcyles
for their support throughout the year. Richard is also supported
by the following LD Training, Scott, Dunlop and Yamalube.
Round 7 of the Precise Corporation Central Queensland Motocross
Series is this Sunday 8th June, with racing expected to start
at 9am. The Longreach Motocross Track is located at Lot 1
Sandpiper Street, Longreach. Entry is $5 for adults, $3 for
children and pensioners, and $10 for a car load.

Changes
to Precise Corporation Central Queensland
MX Series
The continuing growth in
popularity of the Precise Corporation Central Queensland
Motocross Series has led to some minor changes to allow the
smooth running of the rest of this year’s
series.
All classes will now have
two rounds of racing (previously three), but each race will
be 50% longer. This will allow the officials to save time
between each event and this means that events should finish
on time and lower the chances of having to cut back the last
round of the day.
Class details will now be:
50cc Div 2 - 2
rounds x 8 minutes
65cc - 2
rounds x 10 minutes
Senior Lites and Open - 2
rounds x 15 minutes
All other classes - 2
rounds x 12 minutes
Amended Supplementary Regulations
will be available here.
Thank-you for your understanding with this matter.

Clubs
rally to help Jamie
On the 20th April this year, Jamie
Elliott (#121) was doing what he loves most in the world,
racing motocross. The shy fourteen year old, affectionately
known by his family and mates as “Mr Smoothie,” was
competing in the Junior Lites class at the Moranbah round
of the Central Queensland Motocross Series when he crashed
and was seriously injured.
Once he was stabilised and able to
be moved from the track, he was taken to Moranbah Hospital
and then subsequently flown to the Royal Children’s
Hospital in Brisbane. He had fractured the C2 and C3 vertebrae's,
also his jaw in several places, and his lung had collapsed.
His spinal cord was also damaged, but to what extent is
not yet known.
The Doctors have now fused his C1 vertebrae to C5 and he
is now able to breath unaided. His jaw has been plated and
he is now talking and eating solid food. Whilst Jamie continues
to make steady progress, he is expected to remain in Brisbane
for at least another nine months.
Jamie and his family live on their
property outside of Charters Towers. He had travelled to
Moranbah with his mum, Lyndal, for the event, as his Dad,
Greg, had to stay home to complete a muster on the property.
Greg and Jamie’s sister,
Mikayla, flew to Brisbane immediately and have relied on
family and friends to look after the property since then.
The Elliott’s have devoted much
of their time to motorcycling over the years, with Greg
as an Official and past President of the Charters Towers
Motorcycle Club, and Lyndal, as a Race Secretary. They
have formed the backbone of the club, donating many, many
hours of machinery hire for track preparation and maintenance,
as well as behind the scenes paperwork and organisation.
As a result, the Elliott’s are a very well known and
liked family in the region. Since the accident North and
Central Queensland Clubs have banded together to raise money
to assist Greg and Lyndal with travel and medical expenses
to aid in Jamie’s recovery.
To date, the Cairns Motorcycle Club has donated $2,500 and
the Mareeba Motorcycle Club $5,000. Our very own Townsville
Motorcycle Club donated all proceeds from its most recent
Motocross Club Day on the weekend and this, plus individual
donations, came to $12 000, bringing a grand total thus far
of $19,500. A number of Central Queensland Clubs have also
advised that they will be donating funds and organising raffles.
The Townsville Motorcycle Club thank
all of those who have contributed, and now challenge other
clubs, businesses and members of the racing fraternity
to join in and assist in any way, be it big or small. Due
to the extent of Jamie’s
injuries his treatment will be on-going, so any assistance
you can provide will help.
Donations can be forwarded to: The Elliott Family, c/- Townsville
Motorcycle Club, PO Box 747, Aitkenvale Qld 4814. Or for
more information contact Tracey Grinham on 0438 531 309.

Shell
Series set to swing back into action
It’s been more
than a month since the last round, but the Shell Advance
Sunshine State Motocross Series swings back into action
with round 5 of the Series being held this weekend at Bingera
Weir Raceway, Bundaberg.
The final round of the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships,
and a round of the Rockstar National Motocross Championships
has dominated the local motocross scene of late, but the
local boys and girls are keen to get back into what is widely
regarded as the best Motocross Series in the land.
The absence of quality
riders such as Todd Waters (KTM), Dean Ferris (Honda) and
Nathan Crawford (Honda), who will all be competing at round
4 of the Australian Motocross Championships (Raymond Terrace,
NSW), will surely see recently crowned Queensland Pro Open
and Pro Lites State Champion – Adam
Cini enter the weekend as a strong favourite.
The presence of Northstar
Yamaha’s Robbie Marshall
in both the Pro Open and Pro Lites classes, and other consistent
performers such as Brock Winston (Yamaha), Matt Haworth (Honda)
and Stephen Smith (Honda) is likely to keep Cini on his toes.
Despite the fact that
the Series has only reached its half-way point Queensland
Yamaha Junior Development Team’s Shaun
Redhead has opened up an almost insurmountable lead in the
Junior Lites 13/14 years class. Another strong showing this
weekend will make his challengers’ job almost impossible.
Bingera Weir Motocross Track is located on Bingera Weir
Road, via Bundaberg. Racing will start at approximately 10am
on both days.
Saturday’s racing will be for predominantly younger
juniors (65cc) and Senior Clubman classes, and Sunday’s
racing being for the older juniors (85cc, Junior Lites, etc)
and the Senior Pro, Expert and Intermediate riders.
Entry prices on Saturday are: $5 for school students and
pensioners, $10 for adults, $20 for a family pass (2 adults
and 2 children), children under 5 years are free.
Entry prices on Sunday are: $10 for school students and
pensioners, $15 for adults, $30 for a family pass (2 adults
and 2 children), children under 5 years are free.
An entry pass covering
both days can be purchased for the cost of Sunday prices.
For more information contact the Rum City Motorcycle Club
Secretary – Jenice Caflish on

Cini
and Husqvarna take 2 Queensland Motocross
Championships
The final round of the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships
held at Glenfern Park, Kilcoy on the ANZAC long weekend,
saw Husqvarna Racings Adam Cini (pictured), win both the
Pro Open and Pro Lites Championship classes.
On Saturday in race one of the Pro Open class, Cini took
the hole shot and lead the early stages of the race, and
after a long battle with fellow championships contender -
Dean Ferris (Honda).
Cini settled for second and some valuable Championships
points, with Nathan Crawford (Honda) in third.
On Sunday there were 2 races left to decide the Pro Open
title, with Cini going into the day with an 8 point lead
in the Pro Open championship class.
In the first race of the day Cini got away with the lead
group of riders, and after a frantic dice for the lead, ended
up finishing in 3rd place, two places in front of Ferris
who slid off while dicing with the front group. KTM's Todd
Waters took the win with Kawasaki's Mitch Hoad in 2nd place.
This result saw Cini’s lead
in the championship increase, meaning Ferris had to win
the third and final race, and hope for Cini to finish outside
the top 5 to have any chance of claiming the championships.
By the last race of the day, the conditions of the track
had become extremely dusty. Cini again got away well, unfortunately
however another rider managed to run into the back of him,
squashing the exhaust which ultimately affected the performance
of the bike.
By this stage the lead riders were gone, and out in front
was Ferris. Cini showed however true grit and fought his
way back to ultimately take 5th place in the race and claim
his second ever Pro Open Queensland Motocross Championship.
Todd Waters claimed 2nd place in this race and Nathan Crawford
3rd.
“I am so stoked. I had a great package for the whole
championship, my Husqvarna TC450 has surprised everyone and
the Metzeler tyres were great. By the last race I had a 12
point gap so I knew it was tight, I kept in control and I
felt as though I deserved to take the win” he said.
Ferris claimed second place in the Championship, and amazingly
despite missing the second round due to sponsors commitments,
Todd Waters claimed 3rd. Both of these riders will no doubt
have their day.
It was a different story in the Pro Lites Class, where all
the other riders knew they would need something extraordinary
to happen if they were to win this Championship class, with
Cini going into the final round with a 25 point lead.
Cini rode consistently and finished a comfortable 3rd in
the first race on Saturday, with his main nemeses Ferris
(Honda) taking the win with Brock Winston (Yamaha) in 3rd.
On Sunday Cini hole-shotted the first
race and led from start to finish in front of KTM’s
Todd Waters and Ferris. In the second race of the day,
Cini again took the holeshot and rode conservatively to
take 3rd place, behind Waters and Ferris, and in so doing
claimed his second Championship for the day.
“Now this has Championship win has really surprised
me" said a clearly elated Cini.
"At the start of the year I wasn’t sure if I
could develop and race both classes, I have trained and ridden
every day and it has paid off. I couldn’t fault anything
about my Husqvarna TC250, it rode like a gem" he continued.
Cini acknowledged that the win was part of an overall team
effort from all at Husqvarna Racing.
"I would like to thank Paul & Sue (Feeney) for
giving me this opportunity and having faith in me, my mechanic
Johnny Kittle who had the patience for all the swapping and
changing and of course, Vic who helped me today and the rest
of the crew and my personal sponsors. Last, but certainly
not least, thanks to my fiancée Tammy who has been
a huge supporter of my career for such a long time” laughed
Cini.
The other 2008 Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championship
winners are:
Womens Unlimited - Tamara Gray (Yamaha)
Junior Lites 250F 15yrs - Dylan Peterson (Honda)
Junior Lites 125cc - Shaun Redhead (Yamaha)
Mini Lites 14/15yrs - Wade Hunter (Honda)
Junior Lites 250F 13/14yrs - Shaun Redhead (Yamaha)

Cini
looking for the double
Team
Husqvarna Racing’s Adam Cini (pictured) will be looking
to ‘do the double’ and claim both the Pro Open
and Pro Lites Championship classes when the third (and final
round) of the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships hit
Glenfern Park, Kilcoy this weekend.
Cini has been in blistering form of late, and is somewhat
of a ‘Jack of all Trades’ when it comes
to riding motorbikes, having spent last year competing in
the Lites Class in American Motorcycle Association’s
(AMA) Supermoto World Championships where he finished 3rd
overall.
Going into the final round of the Championship he leads
both classes (Pro Open by 11pts and Pro Lites by 25pts),
and will be looking to do what Daniel Reardon did last year
and claim both of the premier Open classes.
Reardon has since moved on and is currently competing in
the AMA Motocross and Supercross Championships, a place where
Cini also sees himself in the not-to-distant future.
“Last year was a great experience and a lot of fun
for me. I got to travel around America and meet some good
people, and gain some great memories” said Cini.
“When you want your world to revolve around motorcycles,
America is the place to be. There are more tracks over there
and they all seem to be really well maintained”.
“It took me a little bit of time to become accustomed
to the set-up over there, but once I did, I started producing
some decent results” he commented.
For now though he is focussed on getting the best out of
this year and riding on his home track of Glenfern Park,
Kilcoy will no doubt give him an advantage this weekend.
“I guess you could say that I know my way around the
Kilcoy track”.
“I’ve raced there from a very young age. But
in saying that, a number of the other top guys will have
just as good of a chance of winning on the day. It’s
just one of those tracks where the start is everything” he
said.
Cini’s main opposition in the
Pro Open class is likely to come from Dean Ferris (Honda),
the Yamaha mounted Simon Thomson and Nick Geck, the experienced
Nathan Crawford (Honda) and north Queensland whiz kid Todd
Waters (KTM).
Many of the same names loom large
in the Pro Lites class, with Ferris, Geck, Waters and Suzuki’s Joseph Hobson
all looking to spoil Cini’s plans of a double celebration.
In the Women’s Championship class Yamaha’s Tamara
Gray holds a strong 21pt lead in search of her fourth Women’s
State Motocross title.
Honda’s Dylan Peterson holds sway in both of the ‘premier’ Junior
classes (Junior Lites 250F 15 years and Junior Lites 125cc).
He’s sure however, to encounter stiff opposition from
Yamaha’s Shaun Redhead in the Junior Lites class.
Redhead holds a strong lead in the
250F 14/15 years class, from Husqvarna’s Jake Wright and Honda’s
Jacob Wright.
It looks like a two man battle in
the Mini Lites 14/15 years class where Honda riders Wade
Hunter (114pts) and Jake Gook (113pts) have cleared out
on the rest of the field, whilst North Queensland’s
Jackson Richardson (KTM) holds a strong points lead over
Jacob Wright and Jay Wilson (Honda) in the Mini Lites 12/13
years.
It’s Joel Dinsdale’s title
to loose in Mini Lites 9/11 years class where he has a
26pt lead over second placed Nicklas Scott (Honda) and
a 27pt lead over third placed Jesse Dobson (KTM).
KTM riders Dylan Wilson (65cc 10/12 years), Wilson Todd
(65cc 7/9 years) and Declan Dwyer (50cc Division 2) all hold

Jamie
Bain's on the road to recovery
As many of you will know,
18 year old up and coming motocrosser Jamie Bain from Mackay,
was involved in a horrific motocross crash at round 1 of
the Queensland Motocross Championship at Woodstock Motocross
Track, Townsville Sunday 23rd March 2008.
Family friend of the Bain's
- Bobbie Coxon was good enough to check in with the Motorcycling
Queensland office and let us know how Jamie's getting on.
Here's an extract from here message:
"Jamie
was in a coma until Wednesday (26th March) night with a brain
bleed and swelling. Everyone was on tender
hooks as none knew what the outcome would be.
Being
the determined young man that Jamie is however, he has
not ceased to amaze everyone with his rapid recovery.
He
has had to learn to talk and walk again and he has succeeded
in doing both within 3 weeks of the crash. His memory
is fine and he remembers everything up to the Sunday morning
of his crash.
The only other injuries
he sustained was
a dislocated jaw, which has heeled well and damaged cartilage
in his right knee which might give him a bit of trouble for
a while. We are all amazed that he did not break any
bones. Jamie is now in an intensive rehabilitation
program at the Townsville General Hospital to get him up
to scratch.
Scott (Dad), Trudy (Mum)
and Jamie Bain have been overwhelmed with the huge amount
of people that have supported them and they would like to
express many thanks for this support.
Jamie is in exceptionally
good spirits and very determined to make a full recovery.
He was telling us that he was going to be out of hospital
in another week. We
believe it may be a bit longer than that, but with
the way Jamie has progressed so quickly nothing would surprise
us.
The incident has unfortunately
set Jamie back with his motocross, which is a shame considering
he decided to make motocross his career this year. He
was training very hard and was achieving excellent
results up until the accident. We believe
this will only be a temporary set back for him as he seems
positive he will be back stronger than ever.
We believe this accident
should be a reminder to everyone how important motocross
safety gear is, especially a good helmet and neck brace.
If Jamie wasn’t wearing
this gear we believe the outcome would have been a lot worse".
I'm sure everyone within
the Queensland motocross and wider general motorcycling fraternity
would like to wish Jamie all the very best with his recovery.

Queensland
riders set for improved showing

Queensland
riders will be looking for a much improved showing when round
2 of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals takes
place at Horsham Motorcycle Club this Sunday 13th April.
The weather forecast is
for cloudy and cool conditions but no rain. Aside from
Harley Quinlan, there are no major injury concerns.
The track is hard pack clay and al
the Queensland riders will be out to redeem themselves
from last week.
This round also works
as an Under 19 qualifier for the riders in the southern
zone. Lets hope our boys can get back up the front where
they belong.
Leading into the championship,
many of the Queensland boys were in good shape and had lofty
plans.
The Sunshine State Series
and Queensland Motocross Championships had plenty of national
riders in the field yet our local boys were able to pull
down some impressive results on home soil. If they were able
to replicate those performances, then the top 10 might have
been flush with Queenslanders.
But Round 1 was a
tough day pretty much all round for the Queenslander’s,
with only Todd Waters landing in the top five.
We will
continue to claim Dean Ferris as one of us, although he
lives in Kyogle, northern New South Wales, who took a moto
victory in the Pro Lites and rounded out the day in second.
Jake Pengelly performed
well for his first major race in senior and national competition
but for Troy Carroll, Nathan Crawford, Simon Thompson,
Nick Geck and Harley Quinlan it was a rough start to the
championship. Things will be better for round two this
weekend.

of the Championships at www.ozmotox.com.au

Tivoli
Raceway to host Shell Series

More than
420 of Queensland’s best
motocrosser's will converge on Tivoli Raceway, Chuwar this
weekend, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April, for the fourth
(of 8) round of the 2008 Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross
Series.
The Tivoli
round of the Series traditionally attracts big numbers
and this weekend’s round won’t
disappoint.
“Recent rain, a forecast of fine
weather, and a dedicated group of workers who have the
track in great condition will make for an excellent weekend’s
racing” said Series Co-ordinator Kevin Mortimer.
The presence
of current Queensland Motocross Pro Open and Pro Lites
Series leader Adam Cini (pictured above) at the meet is
sure to bring out the best in many of this weekend’s
competitors.
Cini has been in blistering form of late
and attributes this to recent improvements in his Husqvarna
TC450 and TC250, as well as his dedication to a strict
weekly training program.
“The Husqvarna Racing Team is working
really hard on developing the bike, and I’m averaging
about 20 – 25 hours a week training, including cycling,
running and gym work, which is making a huge difference
to my results” said Cini.
Cini’s main contenders in the Pro
Open will come from the likes of Michael Addison (KTM),
the consistent Stephen Smith (Honda), and Yamaha’s
Simon Thompson.
Another rider set to impress is local
Forest Lake rider Shaun Redhead (Queensland Yamaha Junior
Development Team) who has a big lead in the 13/14 Junior
Lites class.
Redhead like Cini, also leads his class
(after 2 of 3 rounds) in Queensland Motocross Championships,
and will be looking to maintain his form and speed leading
into the third and final round of the Queensland Motocross
Championships to be held at Glenfern Park, Kilcoy on the
weekend of 26th and 27th April.
You can view the full rider's
list for this weekend's racing here.
You can check out all of
the latest results from the Shell Advance Sunshine State
Motocross Series at this link.
Tivoli Raceway
is located on the corner of Coal & Brodzig Roads,
Chuwar. Racing will start at approximately 10am on both

The
'Cool Air' returns
After a sensational debut year that kept the factory teams
honest and turned plenty of heads, Cool Air Racing returns
for season 2008, but there have been a few significant changes
during the off season. The new name - Team Cool Air Troy
Carroll Kawasaki Racing gives a lot of it away.
The most obvious is the change of bikes, from Suzuki to
Kawasaki. Despite the great Cool Air showing in 2007, the
team and Suzuki were unable to come to an agreement and they
looked elsewhere. That eventually led to Kawasaki and the
riders and team are excited to be on the green bikes.
Troy Carroll is also part
of the naming rights in the team. Although debuting the new
bikes and a massive team transporter at the season opening
Stadium motocross events at Toowoomba and Archerfield, the
team has since gone to ground to prepare for the upcoming
Rockstar MX Nationals. With Troy in the Pro Open, Adam Monea
in the Lites and Jake Pengelly contesting the Under 19 division,
the Cool Air guys look the goods on paper.
With the start of the National
Motocross Championship less than a week away, it was time
for regular Motorcycling Queensland Ride! eNews contributor
Scotty Bishop to catch up with Troy to get his views on the
team, the year ahead and what’s
in store for Cool-Air Troy Carroll Racing Kawasaki.
Ride! eNews: There have been several changes with the
team since last year, talk us through them.
Troy Carroll (TC): We
approached Suzuki with a proposal for 2008 and they wouldn’t
offer any more support than 2007, which was limited. So
we then went on the market and Kawasaki stepped up with
a great offer and we have been working closely with them
ever since. Having my name on the team is to assist attracting
sponsors and raising the profile of the team. Kevin is
still the owner and has wanted to do this for some time.
We just thought it might assist us commercially.
As for the riders, with Kyle heading back to the USA, I
wanted to find a young guy with real good raw speed that
we can help develop. I watched Adam race last year and he
was fast enough, he just needed to concentrate on not making
as many mistakes and I think with our guidance, he will be
able to step up this year and challenge for the Pro Lites
championship. Jake was a simple choice. I have assisted Jake
for years now and he was the perfect fit for our Under19
rider. He lives here in Toowoomba, is dedicated and riding
really well at the moment.
Ride! eNews: With a successful debut season with Cool
Air, has it been easier to chase down support for 2008?
TC: I
wouldn’t say getting any support
in this industry is easy. Kawasaki and Monza Imports have
been fantastic with the assistance they have given us and
as a team we would like to build long-term relationships
with them. But the size of the Australian market means a
lot of people just can’t afford to hand over product
or money so we have to work hard and continue to work hard
to keep bringing in sponsors.
Ride! eNews: After contesting the early season stadium
events, you have kept a low profile since then, what has
been going on?
TC: I just wanted
to break up my off season a little with a couple of races.
Since then I have just had my head down and been working
hard to be ready for the Motocross Nationals. We have done
a heap of testing, got a good fitness base and I feel like
I am ready to race. I also think I am as prepared as I
can be and don’t want to show all
my cards before the first round of the nationals.
Ride! eNews: You told me last year, that after a year
off with injury, 2008 was going to be your season to win.
Do you still feel that way?
TC: Yes. I feel as
though I’m on
track with that. Our bikes are working very well, everyone
in the team has put in a big effort and for me personally,
I can’t wait to get this thing started. Sure, it will
be a tough championship with lots of riders going fast but
I feel I am ready to go and I’m looking forward to
a tough championship.
Ride! eNews: There have been stories of you looking
into managerial roles in motocross teams, is this some
kind of plan for the future?
TC: Well, that is something that I am doing
now. As I said earlier, Kevin is the owner, but he leaves
the majority of racing decisions to me, as he knows I have
the knowledge and the experience in the industry. During
the week I do plenty of the work in the team, Kevin runs
the show on the weekends. But, it is something that interests
me and I hope that it will continue with Cool Air because
what we are doing now is only the tip of the iceberg.
Ride! eNews: Ok,
let’s
talk MX nationals, what are the goals for you a |
