Nominations
called for SEQ U/16s Junior Development Camp
Motorcycling Queensland is calling
for nominations from riders interested in nominating to
attend the South East Queensland U/16s Talent Identification & Junior
Development Camp.
The Camp, to be held on the 1st & 2nd
December, is open to riders from any discipline, aged 13-15
years (at the time of the Camp), and will see the Motorcycling
Queensland coaching committee in conjunction with some
of Queensland's most highly skilled and experienced coaches
and profile riders, facilitating a 2 day coaching clinic,
involving both 'on the bike' technique instruction and
'off the bike' information on nutrition, training programs
and physical testing.
Day 1 of the program (Saturday 1st
December) will see 3 separate venues operating simultaneously
providing ‘off
the bike’ information on topics such as fitness, nutrition,
weight training, media skills and public speaking, and sponsorship
negotiation, etc.
The 3 venues being used on day 1 are: The Sports Super Centre
(Runaway Bay, Gold Coast), Toowoomba Hockey Association (Clyde
Park, Toowoomba) and the University of Sunshine Coast (Sippy
Downs, Sunshine Coast).
Day 2 of the program sees riders broken into their preferred
riding disciplines, and receive 'on the bike' coaching and
technique instruction at the following South East Queensland
venues:
Coolum Motocross Track (Sunshine Coast) – Motocross
coaching
Mike Hatchers (Labrador) – Speedway coaching
North Brisbane (Nudgee) – Dirt Track coaching
Hinchcliffe’s Property (Canungra) – Moto-Trials
coaching
Venue – TBC – Enduro coaching
*Ipswich Kart Track (Willowbank) – Road Racing & Supermoto
coaching
*Due to the unavailability of the
Ipswich Kart Track on Sunday 2nd December, the ‘on the bike’ coaching
day for Road Racing & Supermoto will be held at the
Ipswich Kart Track on Monday 17th December (first day of
school holidays).
There is no charge to attend the Camp, however there is
a maximum of 100 places available at this Camp, and the following
rider to discipline ratio applies:
Motocross – maximum 30 places
Enduro – maximum 15 places
Dirt Track – maximum 15 places
Moto-Trials – maximum 10 places
Speedway – maximum10 places
Road Racing – maximum 10 places
Supermoto – maximum 10 places
Nominations to attend this Camp will only be accepted on
the prescribed Nomination
Form, and must be submitted to
Motorcycling Queensland by Thursday 15th November 2007.

Nominations
called for U21s 'Refresher' Camp
Motorcycling Queensland
is calling for nominations from riders eligible
to nominate to attend the 2007 U21s 'Refresher' Elite Training
Camp.
The aim of the ‘Refresher
Camp’ is
to ensure that there continues to be a relationship between
Motorcycling Queensland and our elite young riders who
have attended previous U21s Camps, as they progress through
the system, and hopefully onto a rewarding career within
motorcycling sport.
Any rider who has attended
any one of the (4) previous U21s Elite Training Camps,
who did not attend the 2006 Refresher Camp, and is aged 15
- 20 years at the time of the Camp, is eligible to submit
a nomination to attend the 2007 U21s Refresher Camp. A maximum
of 10 places will be offerred at this year's U21s Refresher
camp.
The ‘Refresher Camp’ is
an abbreviated 3 day version of the original 5 day Camp,
it will again focus predominantly on off-the-bike issues,
and will cover such topics as Nutrition, Physiotherapy & Massage,
Sports Psychology, Strength & Conditioning, maintaining
a training Diary.
Attendees will be selected to attend based on their (improved)
performances / results since their attendance at the original
Camp, as well as the quality of application submitted.
The Refresher Camp will
be held at the internationally recognised Runaway
Bay Sports Super Centre (approximately 10kms north of the
Gold Coast). Further information regarding this facility

Nominations
called for U21s Elite Trainnig Camp
Motorcycling Queensland
is calling for nominations from riders interested and eligible
to attend the 2007 / 08 U21s Elite Training Camp.
The 2007 / 08 U21s Elite Training
Camp, now in its fifth year, is an opportunity for Motorcycling
Queensland (MQ) to facilitate a live-in style camp that
provides our up and coming elite riders aged between 15 – 20
years, with exposure to programs and information which
it is hoped will assist them in fulfilling their potential.
This year’s Camp will once again
be held at the internationally recognised Runaway Bay Sports
Super Centre (approximately 10kms north of the Gold Coast).

The 5-day Camp focuses exclusively
on off-the-bike skills, and covers such topics as Nutrition,
Sports Psychology, Strength & Conditioning,
developing & maintaining Training Programs, Media skills

Camps including Motocrossers Brenden Harrison, Todd Waters,
Ford Dale and Sam Leikefett, Road Racers - Matthew Kuhne,

- Nicholas Beattie, Kristian Sprenger and Chris and Jake
Reading to name just a few.

Riders
chosen for Central Queensland U/16s Development
Camp
The Motorcycling Queensland Coaching
Committee today announced that it had accepted 28 riders
into the inaugural 2007 Central Queensland U/16s Talent
Identification & Junior Development
Camp.
The Camp will be held in Rockhampton
over 2 days (3rd & 4th
November), with the first day to be held at the Central Queensland
University, focusing on ‘off the bike’ coaching
information such as: fitness and nutrition, training programs,
media skills and public speaking and physical testing, etc.
The second day of the Camp will be
held at Six Mile Reserve, Rockhampton, and will see riders
undergo ‘on the bike’ coaching
and instruction from MQ’s premier Level 2 coaches – Rod
Jenner and Chris Urquhart, as well as a number of other local
area coaches.
“It’s a great opportunity for Motorcycling Queensland
to identify riders coming through the system, and try to
encourage good training habits at an early age” said
MQ Coaching Co-ordinator Rodney Jenner.
The riders chosen to attend (in alphabetical order) are:

Nathan Edwards, Ryan Hand, Brodi Harris, Jake Hunt, Fletcher

The U/16s Talent Identification & Junior
Development Camps are open to any rider aged 13-15 years,
who is the holder of a Motorcycling Queensland issued Junior
Competition Licence (Junior National, Junior National Restricted
or Junior Club).

LEVEL
2 COACHING COURSE ANNOUNCED
Motorcycling Australian today
announced that it would run a Level 2 Coaching Course
at the Australian Institute of Sport (Canberra) from
Monday 5th - Thursday 8th November 2007. |
Level 2 coaching accreditation
is currently the highest level of motorcyle sport coaching
accreditation available in Australia.
Applicants interested in
attending this course, must, as a minimum, be a currently
accredited / licenced Level 1 motorcycle sport coach, and
have (by the time of the Level 2 course) completed the Level
2 General Principles of Coaching Course.
There is a limit on the
number of places available at the course, and if oversubscribed
applicants will be chosen to attend based on their coaching
experience, qualifications, and recommendations from their
relevant State Controlling Body.

& NQ U/16s Talent Identification & Junior
Development Camps
Motorcycling Queensland
has released details, including Nomination Forms, for the
Central Queensland (3 & 4 November) and North Queensland
(17 & 18 November) U/16s Talent Identification & Junior
Development Camps.
The
Camp involves the Motorcycling Queensland coaching committee
in conjunction with some of Queensland's most highly skilled
and experienced coaches and profile riders, facilitating
a number of 2 day coaching clinics, at various venues throughout
the state.
The
program caters for Queensland licenced riders aged 13-15
years, and is offered FREE OF CHARGE to those who are successful
in nominating to attend.
Day
1 of the program centres on ‘off the bike’
topics such as fitness, nutrition, weight training, media
skills and public speaking, and sponsorship negotiation,
etc.
Day
2 of the program involves 'on the bike' coaching and technique
instruction at various local tracks.

Places
available at Lee Hogan Boot Camp
Lee
Hogan checked in with the Motorcycling Queensland office
recently to advise that there were still limited places
avaialble at his 5 Day Masters Course - Boot Camp to be
held in and around the sunshine coast area in early October.
The
Boot Camp sees riding instruction taking place at 3 different
riding locations (Kilcoy, Conondale and Ben Schodel's MX
Track at Woodford), and also includes a solid day of 'off
the bike' Boot Camp activities.
The
Camp runs from 3rd - 7th October 2007. You can download

Queensland announces Coaches Forums

Motorcycling
Queensland today announced that they will be facilitating
a number of Coaches Forums to take place throughout the
state later this year.
The Coaches Forums will
provide both active and potential coaches, and any other
interested individuals, with the opportunity to meet as a
group and discuss a range of topical issues affecting motorcycle
coaching in Queensland.
The types of topics expected
to be covered include: the Kick Start Coaching Program, the
Level 1 Coaching Course, coach accreditation and licencing
procedures, Level 2 coach accreditation, the permitting of
privately owned land / circuits for the purpose of coaching,
to name just a few.
"It really is a fantastic
initiative by Motorcycling Queensland to hold these Coaches
Forums, and speak directly with the people on the ground'
said Motorcycling Queensland Coaching Committee Chairman
- Rodney Jenner.
"We (the Coaching Committee)
often think we know what needs to be done and what the issues
are, but there's no substitute to speaking directly with
coaches who are working within the system" he continued.

called for Coaching Comittee vacancy
Motorcycling
Queensland is calling for nominations from any person interested
in nominating for a position on the Motorcycling Queensland
Coaching Committee.
The
Coaching Committee meets on a monthly basis and is responsible
for providing ongoing stategic advice to the MQ Executive
in the area of coaching.
If
you are interested in applying, please contact the General

and involvement in this part of the sport.

Rockhampton
Level 1 Coaching Course
Motorcycling
Queensland advises that it will be conducting the Level
1 Coaching Course in the Yeppoon / Rockhampton area on
the weekend of 23 & 24 June 2007.
The
course will be conducted over 2 consecutive days. The first
day (Saturday) 'practical component' will be conducted
at the Keppel Coast MX Track, Yeppoon, and the second day
(Sunday) 'General Principles of Coaching' will be conducted
at The Archer Park Motel - 39 Albert Street, Rockhampton.
There
is no charge to attend the course, however attendees must
be at least 17 years and 6 months of age at the time of
completing the course. (Please note: a coaching licence
cannot be issued to any person under the age of 18 years).
Attendees
at the course should also have at least 2 years practical
experience in motorcyle competition as a competitor or
official and have a sound knowledge of motorcycle riding
technique. The Level 1 Coaching Course will not teach you
how to ride a motorcycle, it will teach you coaching and
instruction techniques to assist riders develop their riding
skills.
Persons interested in attending
should complete the Registration
Form and return to Motorcycling
Queensland. The course will cater for a maximum of 14 riders.
