Series Race Secretary - Rachelle Houterman

Rachelle first got a road bike licence around 30 years ago.

After obtaining her road bike licence, she moved to NSW and became involved in a recreational road bike club – RAGE Touring Group.  Around that time she also met her husband who also rode. They spent several great years touring around, including their honeymoon to Phillip Island for the Grand Prix with about 20  wedding guests and then on to Darwin from there.

Once Rachelle started a family, road bike touring went on the backburner. She continued to ride to work daily until she had her second child. Rachelle ended up selling her bike (or rather, using it as a Trade in for the husband to upgrade his bike to a better version!).

Rachelle has been licenced as a Race Secretary since 2002, since moving to Queensland with her young family.

Her family first got involed in motorcycling with the Toowoomba MX Club at Laidley. The Houtermans have been members of Toowoomba MX, Toowoomba MCC and Moreton Districts MX Club before moving over to the “Fast Side” – Road Racing with the Motorcycle Sportsmen Club of Queensland.

Rachelle has been the Event Race Secretary for “The Sporties” for  approximately 7-8 years. For four of these years she travelled with her son who competed in the Australian Superbikes Series around Australia. Her favourite destinations were Tasmania and Darwin.

Rachelle has the warmest regards for the companies who sponsored her son, and these same sponsors – Moto National and Ficeda - are involved with the Airoh Helmets Motocross Series – Sunshine State.

Her first involvement with the Sunshine State Series would have been back in approximately 2002, when her two sons competed in the 65cc class of the Series.  Rachelle was one of the lap-scorers back in the day.

The Sunshine State Series is as important to Rachelle as it is to the riders and sponsors who participate. She looks forward to the 2017 Series.
