Mackay's Luke Burgess in action on his Kawasaki Ninja 250R

Round 1 of the Queensland Road Race Championships was held at Suncity Raceway, The Bohle (North Queensland) last weekend and a number of riders put down some strong performances.

Mackay’s Luke Burgess was amongst the most impressive riders over the weekend with a clean sweep 4 wins from 4 starts in the 250cc Supersport class.

Burgess a multiple junior Dirt and Long state and national champion, now in the senior ranks, was up against some of the state’s best who had traveled from as far afield as Cairns and the Gold Coast to compete in the event.

Burgess has taken all before him in his short but very impressive time in the Road Race scene and attributes a lot of his success to the support he receives.

“I can’t thank enough people like Rob Walker (Kawasaki Australia - National Sales & Marketing Manager) for the time, effort and resources that they have put into me” said Burgess.

Burgess will double his commitments at the second (26/27 June) and third (2/3 October) rounds of the Queensland State Championships where he will also be entering the 600cc Superstock class on a Kawasaki ZX600R Ninja.

“Racing the two classes will be tough, but a lot of fun” he said.

“I was fortunate enough to attend Motorcycling Queensland’s U21s Elite Training Camp at the end of last year, and I learnt a lot about how to properly prepare for races and deal with the off-the-bike side of things” he continued.
