Important information

Motorcycling Queensland runs Level 1 Coaching Courses throughout the state to train motorcycle sport coaches to the required national standard.

Attendance at the course is free of charge, however attendees must be at least 18 years of age, and have a strong knowledge of motorcycles and motorcycle sport.

The course is not designed to teach you how to ride a motorcycle, it is designed to equip the coach with the essential coaching knowledge and skills to teach and instruct others on riding technique, etc.

Coaching licences will only be issued to persons who have a current Blue Card.

Course details

The Level 1 Coaching Course is a 16 hour course, conducted over 2 days.

The course consists of the practical motorcycle sport coaching component (1 day - 8 hours) and the Level 1 General Principles of Coaching components (1 day - 8 hours). The course is usually conducted over 2 consecutive days.

The practical motorcycle sport component of the Level 1 Coaching Course is conducted at a motorcycle sport facility / track and covers the following types of topics:

* Kick Start competency modules for junior licence applicants
* Discipline specific skills and topics
* Licence testing Assessment

In order to successfully complete the practical motorcycle sport component of the Level 1 Coaching Course, attendees must undertake and pass the following assessment tasks:

* A 10 minute practical coaching presentation
* A 20 question multiple choice motorcycle sport specific exam

The Level 1 General Principles of Coaching component of the Level 1 Coaching Course is scheduled so as to take place at a conference venue / facility, and covers the following types of topics:

* Role of the coach
* Planning and reviewing
* Risk Management
* Athlete development

In order to successfully complete the Level 1 General Principles of coaching component of the Level 1 Coaching Course, attendees must undertake and pass the following assessment tasks:

*A coaching session planner (undertaken at course)
*General Principles of Coaching Worksheets (completed post-course and submitted to Motorcycling Queensland for marking)

Anyone who has obtained the Level 1 General Principles of Coaching either as part of a licencing process with another sport / organisation, or who has completed the course on-line, and can proove its currency, is not required to redo the Level 1 General Principles of Coaching component of this course.

A Certificate of Attainment / Achievement will be required as proof of completion.

Motorcycling Queensland provides all neccessary course resources to attendees to enable them to undertake the Level 1 Coaching Course, including:

* Level 1 Motorcycle Sport Coaching Course - Participant's Kit
* Beginning Coaching Manual (fourth edition)
* Other associated paperwork
* Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (both days)
