Young Road Racer Locky Taylor competed in the Southern Downs Road Race Series over the weekend, and gives us a full recap.
I raced in the third round of the Pirelli Southern Downs Series at Morgan Park this weekend and walked away with second place.
I qualified second on the grid with Brian Houghton on pole.
Race One I battled a bit with the wind down on turns eight and nine. The bike needed some minor changes with my times being off the pace. I finished second to Brian, who was riding awesomely.
In Race Two I was still battling suspension problems and wind but finished third behind Brian and Tayla Relph.
In race Three, Tayla Relph and I both jump started. We both tried to correct it and had no advantage from the jump although Tayla did get around Brian at turn one to lead. I tried to hunt down Tayla but she got the second behind Brian but I was right behind her.
Race Four I knew I had to get second behind Brian to get second overall and I did. It was my best race of the weekend but I know my times were a bit off so I know I will improve.
I finished second overall and had a good weekend. I would like to say a big thanks to my coach Dave Fuller from Advance Rider Training (ART) for all you help and support, Kane and Trevor for the advice over the weekend, Thanks to TAS Earthmoving, Voight Contracting, Q Contracting and LKI .
And finally, thanks to all the people that have been donating to LTR to help me with my racing with the help and ideas of Carole & Graeme Jorgensen.
