Young Gold Coast riders were treated to a coaching clinic with Stephen Gall last Saturday, May 16.
The five times Australian Motocross Champion donated a day of his time to coach young Mike Hatcher Junior Motorcycle Club members, who were specially selected to participate in the clinic.
The clinic was a way to say thanks to the young riders’ parents, who had gone above and beyond in their roles at the club.
Over 20 riders participated in the coaching clinic, which had to be split into two sessions.
Locky Taylor and Broc Pearson, who have been busy Road Racing overseas, were proud to be chosen as Gall’s assistants on the day.
Mike Hatcher JMCC President Mike Findlay says he’s grateful to Gall, who didn’t even charge the club for his services.
“We have plans of running more Coaching Courses for all members,” Findlay says.
“We want to ensure kids are given all of the tools and resources to become a safer and more experienced rider.
“As like any kid in any sport, the more experienced they become, the more they enjoy it… and this raises the retention rate of the sport.”
Findlay says the club wants to provide ongoing coaching to Mike Hatcher members other than just the required Kick Start program.
“Coaching is a very important part of ones growth in their chosen sport.”
