Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia will support a selection of emerging racers in the 2018 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship at Horsham, Victoria August 25-26.
The event features 125cc and 85cc World Championship categories in addition to a 65cc World Cup and a national teams title.
Queenslanders Braden Plath and Thomas Wood are each set to contest the 65cc class aboard their Husqvarna TC 65 machinery, while fellow Sunshine Stater Ty Jones is listed as a 125cc class wildcard.
Highly capable Plath, from Cairns, and Townsville-based Wood are both 11 years of age and ride with the support of JR’s Motorcycles Husqvarna in Townsville.
Fifteen-year-old Jones hails from Mackay, and is supported through Redline Motorsports Husqvarna.
The involvement of Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia will be extensive throughout the world championships, providing a technical support service on location during the race weekend, as well as offering a special lease program to international riders making the trip to Australia from overseas.
Nathan Crawford - Junior Team Coordinator, Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia: “It’s a great opportunity that they’ve got to ride at that level, so it will be really exciting for each of the riders to race against the world’s best.
This is a very rare chance for young Australian riders to represent their country at home and we are happy to be involved through the support of our Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia dealerships.
It’s been a really strong year for Plath and Jones here in Queensland, while Wood has been training in the US for much of the year.
We’re looking forward to seeing them compete in the world championships.”
