Popular junior development series, the KTM SEQ JMX series will return for another year, roosting into life on September 1-2 at Coolum, on the Sunshine Coast.
The series forms the perfect stepping stone for rising competitors wanting to move from club racing into the state’s more serious levels of competition, with graded competition for beginners to the very experienced.
Specific graduations and a healthy C-grade field help develop confidence and grow ability in riders, who also enjoy the social atmosphere of the events.
Camping at all four rounds brings families and new friends together socially to have fun.
“The family vibe was clear to see last year at Coolum,” said Series Organiser Anne Polsoni, “as riders took over the start area for an afternoon game of cricket with their mates while Mums and Dads set up camp and got to socialise with their racing families.
“We even get juniors from NSW as they thoroughly enjoy the graded system of racing and the relaxed fun atmosphere.”
Don’t be fooled into thinking there’s nothing for the big guns though, as dedicated A & B racing gives the quick operators a chance to strut their stuff.
“The SEQJMX team of officials are back again to organise and promote a fun, family atmosphere while encouraging and rewarding great sportsmanship. And the kids will be happy to hear that John Gierke is back as Clerk – he’s popular with the young riders.”
“Entries are now open for Round 1,” continues Anne Polsoni, “and a link has been set up on the Motorcycling Qld Calendar. The use of Ridernet is a change for the series and to some it may be confronting at first but it works well, and there’s no doubt online entries are the future.
“If anyone has queries with entries, we are happy to help, feel free to contact us via email to email@example.com or phone 0418754022.
“Only a round-by-round entry is available this year – and entries for the remaining rounds will be available over the next few weeks.
“The tried and tested race schedule will remain unchanged, with Saturday seeing the 50cc Demonstration, 50cc Auto, 65cc 7-9years, 65cc 10-11years, Mini Lites 9-11years and Veterans and Women taking to the track.
“Sunday will be for Mini Lites 12-15years, Junior Lites 2T, Junior Lites 4T, Senior MX1 and Senior MX2. Junior racing will be again graded with A and B grades racing separate to C grade. Some changes have occurred for the seniors – Veterans will be graded into Clubman or Pro/Intermediate, “Women will be scored separately if at least six women compete in each round, and a bonus will be paid to the first-placed senior riders aboard 125cc machines in the MX2 class. Please check the Supp-Regs for all details. A fun feature race will continue for Saturday riders only and on Sunday riders will get to travel home a little earlier.
“This series has been growing in entry numbers each year. Last year saw 1265 riders compete, and we are hoping to top that number again. Spectators are welcome and encouraged at all tracks so bring your friends to cheer on your rider. Camping is available at all venues for your convenience.
