Queensland has finished second in the Challenge Trophy at the 2018 Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro, at the birthplace of Australian Enduro, Cessnock, New South Wales.
NSW took out three of the four days to walk away as winners, while Victoria took out the Junior Trophy category, and the Ladies Trophy went to NSW.
The Queenslanders finished off their A4DE campaign with a second on day four which handed them second overall. The squad of Lachy Stanford, Luke Styke, Kane Hall, Cameron Binstead, Thomas Jenner and Kristian Sprenger clocked in at 1:22:01.
Kane Hall's four-day experience ended with him having to have stitches in his face prior to the final motocross after he wore a rock fired from the back tyre of Lachy Stanford's Husky.
In the Junior Trophy classification, Queensland dropped out of podium contention after Lachlan Allen DNFed with an injured leg on Day 2, after a sizeable off.
The NSW team of Jessica Gardiner and Emelie Karlsson won the Women’s class after taking out all four days, while Queensland's pairing of Jemma Wilson and Tamara Gray did enough to secure themselves a podium finish despite Gray being forced out of the event on day three with a technical issue.
Wilson took the fight to class winner Jess Gardiner every day, claiming a number of test victories before eventually finishing second in class.
The four-day is a massive logistical event, but Queensland's massive squad was a picture of organisation and cooperation throughout the event.
"We've had nothing but positive feedback from everyone with how professionally the Queensland team was looked after by the support crew" said Enduro Subcommittee Chairman Mark Counsell. "It was like a mini garage - Geoff Ballard's been to a heck of a lot of four-days and he was very impressed."
Team Organiser Debbie Douglas was pivotal in tying things together - "It was a great atmosphere with that many riders; they really kept each other motivated, and everybody chipped in and helped."
