There’s less than a month to go until the motocross world finds out whose name gets added to the list of legends who have lifted the prestigious Mountain Man trophy.

The chocolate and red clay of the mountainous Echo Valley circuit in Toowoomba has been a telling battleground since the inaugural Mountain Man back in 1975, and all-new legends will be forged on March 10 and 11.

Since the 40th anniversary epic in 2015, top MX1 contenders Kade Mosig and Kirk Gibbs have been added to the list of premier class winners, and MX Nationals Champion Dean Ferris will now lead the charge for a brand-new Mountain Man as he seeks to join the list.

His frequent training partner, the highly talented local Kaleb Barham knows the place like the back of his hand and will be a dangerous dark horse as he lines up beside a host of other talented riders for the 3 x 10-minute back-to-back motos and half-hour final showdown.

The event has a class for anyone older than 12, and the Toowoomba Motocross Club will be handing over $18000 in prize money, spread generously right across the weekend.

The cash will be paid down to 20th place in Mountain Man itself, 15th in the 125cc class, 10th in Women’s and both Junior Classes, 5th in Veterans 35-44 and 45 & over and Vintage/Classic classes with Side Cars back to 4th place.

Bonuses apply to the three top-placed Clubmen and Intermediates in the Mountain Man Class, while the 125cc class has two lucky draws of $250 Golden Tyre vouchers. The love also extends to the Junior Lites and Mini Lites classes, which have bonuses for the top three female riders.

Entries are via Entries close on March 01, so don’t miss out.

The racing will cater for all tastes. Saturday will see sidecars, Womens, Vintage/Classic and Mini Lites do battle, while Sunday will be the turn of the big names in the Mountain Man class, 125cc, Junior Lites and the final race for the Pre 90/95 bikes.

With entry just $10 and kids under 15 free, it’s a lot of entertainment for very cheap, complete with trade stalls, autograph signings, canteen, refreshments and memorabilia.
