A day after the heartbreak of a navigation error dropped him almost an hour behind the race leader, Australian KTM racer Toby Price came back with a fury, winning Stage 11 of the Dakar Rally from Belen to Fiambala overnight.

Price has continued to gain momentum in his comeback ride after nearly a year off through injury, and the win was his fourth podium of the event, but his first time standing on the top step this year.

The Gold Coast resident chomped an even 10 minutes out of the lead of KTM Red Bull team mate Matthias Walkner, and leap-frogged from fifth back to third after more than 37 hours of competitive racing.

The 40th edition of the Dakar also saw fellow Queensland resident Rod Faggotter on the move, gaining an impressive 16th place for the Stage on the back of yesterday's impressive 13th.

He has now moved into 16th place in General Classification.
