The Queensland Enduro Subcommittee is pleased to welcome Dave Thompson as its latest member.
But apart from being the Dad of Ryan Thompson, Junior Enduro Rider of the year at the recent MX Store MQ Awards night in December, who is he?
We asked him:
"I'm 52, and I work for Bundy Regional Council.
"I've been playing with motorcycles since I was a kid. Enduros and motocross in the early days, and then when my young feller was born things got a bit tight on one wage
I gave it away. Ryan asked me about three years ago, can he get a bike, so that brought me back, and in the last three years I've been running around the circuit. We're
okay - last year Ryan won the Queensland rider of the Year, and I stepped up to expert for this year.
"Now I'm trying to put a bit back into the sport, and I've jumped in with both feet.
"The junior scene up here has thinned out a bit - we're driving 6-7 hours to every event - and we've started a club called Hinterland Enduro Junior Development Club.
It's going to be a big year for me, and for the club up here. We're working on a permanent enduro track, coaching for juniors, social riding, and anything else we can, as well
joining the Enduro Subcommittee.
"Know the Enduro Subcommittee members pretty well and we all get along great.
"I'm looking forward to sitting down with them and seeing what we can improve between us."
