Mackay Kids Too Tough for the Heat at Kickstart Coaching Weekend

A group of Central Queensland riders, coaches and volunteers braved furnace-like conditions in Mackay at the weekend to create a valuable coaching experience for up-and-coming riders.

While temperatures soared and most sat inside sucking in cool air conditioning, 24 enthusiastic junior riders aged 5-16 took to the immaculately prepared Mackay Junior Motocross Track for the area's first Kickstart Course for 2018. They sucked in hot air, dust, but most of all knowledge.

Central Queensland coaches Mr Justin Burgess and Mr Luke Welling assisted by Mr Peter Meier and parents did an excellent job of holding their pupils' attention on what was one of the hottest January days on record.

Water and shade were high-priority items, although the juniors were more than happy to ride, ride and keep riding.

They gained an insight into the rules of the sport, made numerous new riding buddies, gained a wealth of confidence and experience, and all in all made huge improvements in their riding throughout the day.

A HUGE shout out to all who assisted in very tough conditions, and especially the Mackay Junior Motocross club for their hospitality and immaculately prepared facilities.
