Subcommittee vacancies

Currently there are vacancies on a number of Motorcycling Queensland’s subcommittees, those being Motocross (1 vacancy), Supermoto (1 vacancy), Enduro (2 vacancies) and Speedway (2 vacancies). There is also a vacancy on the Motorcycling Queensland Officials Review Board (ORB).

Interested in any of theses positions? Please read the MQ committee and subcommittee Governance Policy. Expressions of interest for any of these positions should be submitted in writing to info@mqld.org.au by cob Friday 14th April.

2017 Annual General Meeting

Motorcycling Queensland’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the MQ offices, Ipswich, at 7:30pm on Wednesday 3rd May, 2017. We are currently calling for nominations from any person interested in one of the three (3) positions up for election on the MQ board.

Nominations should be submitted on the MQ AGM Nomination Form, and returned to Motorcycling Queensland by cob Monday 3rd April 2017.

Constitutional workshops

MQ President - Mr Jim Feehely (Solicitor) recently conducted three constitutional workshops, one each in Cairns, Mackay and Ipswich, to assist MQ clubs with the important task of modernising their club constitutions. Thank-you to those clubs who attended one of these sessions. The offer to assist clubs remains, even if they were unable to attend one of these sessions – contact the MQ office for more assistance.

Welcome Jane Davis

In late January, after two and a half years in the role, Eliza-Jane Mann (MQ Media Officer) advised of her intention to resign form this position to travel the world… Subsequently, Jane Davis was appointed to the position of MQ Media & PR officer, and commenced in this role as of Monday 6th March. On behalf of all members, MQ welcomes Jane to the role.

QMP Easter Holiday Camp

On the back of their very successful Christmas holiday camps, Queensland Moto Park (QMP) is once again offering an off road riding camp during the Easter School Holidays. The camp will be facilitated by Level 2 coaches - Rodney Jenner and Barry Surawski along with four time ISDE champion – Jemma Wilson.

Queensland Womens Week success

Womens week was held in Queensland during the week 6th – 12th March. Motorcycling Queensland was an active participant in this week with five Womens only Garage Nights, and a female road ride culminating at Queensland Moto Park. A number of MQ affiliated clubs also conducted their own Queensland Womens week activities. A big thank-you to everyone who participated in Womens week activities.  

WoW MX Interclub Series

The first round of Queensland’s all new Women on Wheels (WoW) MX Interclub Series kicks into gear with round 1 in Rockhampton on the weekend 25/26 March. Four time ISDE champion Jemma Wilson will start the weekend with a coaching session on the Saturday. This is a great opportunity for all girls to get a hit out on the Rocky MX Track in anticipation of this year’s Qld Junior & Senior Female MX Championships (29/30 July) at the same venue.

Did you know…

‘In 2015, there were approximately 88,000 new two wheeled motorcycles sold in Australia.

This included off road motorcycles, road motorcycles and scooters. Road motorcycles comprised 51% of all new bikes sold, off road bikes were 43%, and scooters 6% of the total new bike sales’ (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries’ Motorcycle Group, Directions for the Motorcycle Industry 2017 – 2020).
