This weekend saw the North Queensland Junior Development Clinic take place in Charters Towers on the generously donated property of Wayne and Christine Neven.
Around 40 Juniors from 7 to 16 years attended the free 2 day clinic, which was put on thanks to the support of Queensland Enduro and the Motorcycling Queensland Junior Development fund. Juniors traveled from as far afield as Ingham, Richmond, Winton and south to Bowen to mix with the local riders and hone some skills and confidence. Kick starts were done along with re certifications, as well as general coaching and answering of questions. All juniors were catered for over the two days and by all accounts it was fantastic.
This clinic was mirrored on the very successful Junior Development Clinic held in Yeppoon in 2015 which saw 117 Juniors attend. Debbie Douglas from the MQ Enduro Subcommittee thanks everybody involved in the clinic.
"I can successfully say that in the last 12 months in Central and North Queensland we have put around 280 Juniors through coaching and development," she says.
"I can't praise enough the help I have received from Kara and John Freestun, Wayne and Christine Neven, my AMAZING, truly dedicated Central Queensland Coaches, Andy Findlay, Justin Burgess, Justin Quinn, Brett Bussey, those SENSATIONAL North Queensland Riders who assisted, Courtney Castellani, Seeton Battle, Scott Gofton, David Nevenand all their families who helped out over the weekend.
"Thank you also Suncity Yamaha and Ingham Motorcycles and Mowers for your kind donations.
"To all those clubs and individuals who promoted the event for me HUGE THANKS, as these Juniors are the future of our sport and it is wonderful to see you recognize that and get behind them.
"Lastly THANK YOU parents for supporting the event, Juniors for being such a joy to work with, so polite and attentive I hope you have a safe trip home and we can see you out and about more confident on the tracks in the future."
