FNQ Development Series reaches halfway mark

The 2016 FNQ Development Series has reached its halfway mark, and Race Secretary Noela Matthews give us an update on the popular northern series:

We have Raced both Cairns and Ravenshoe and have been delighted with the rider numbers that have supported the series.  With club numbers at a low this year it was awesome to see the return of riders.

We were lucky enough to have our local riders Mitch Evans, Jackson Richardson, Wade Hunter and Caleb Ward attend Cairns, and Caleb also attending his home town of Ravenshoe.  Our young riders thought this was amazing to see these riders that started out on their very own tracks and are now on factory team and living the dream. It showed that any rider can do it with hard work, dedication and skill.  We in the Far north find it much harder to get recognized and get support, but it can be done with the help of a dedicated family team and rider.

These Factory riders have given the series signed prizes and posters to giveaway which are a hit!! Thank you heaps guys and thanks for taking time out of your training schedule to visit with us! We wish you the best in your racing careers and we hope to see you at the tracks again very soon.

MACA Coaching what can I say- a hit as always with the reserve list getting longer in the hope that someone can't make it to training. Glenn Macdonald flies in and out each week to the tracks and trains riders of all ages and abilities.  The idea is to be coached on the track you are going to race on the next day. For the new riders, it gives them confidence to have a go and start racing, and some knowledge and skills that they would not have had before. For the racer, the format gives them more or improved skills and line choices, and these improvements for every rider each time they are coached.

To be coached on all the different tracks give more skills and abilities, as each track has something different to learn and prefect. It gives confidence to the rider as well as the parents knowing they are getting faster but also have the knowledge and skills to tackle the track.

To our sponsors: KTM Australia, Wayne Leonard Motorcycles, Motorex, MACA Coaching and Spent you are all awesome! Thank you so much for your support in the series; we have been able to give away prizes before we started to attract more riders to the series well as at each race meet. This has shown in the rider numbers going up from our club days, thank you!  Your support is really appreciated, and we hope these riders will support you now and in the future.

This weekend we go to Tully and then Mareeba for the last and final round of the series.  It is a big four weeks for us all, but it’s worthwhile to see so much joy on the faces of the riders and the parents as they see their improvements.  Thanks to the clubs for hosting the event, as it is an enormous effort to put this together to make it run with coaching on the Saturday and tacing on the Sunday.

See you all on the weekend at Tully with your bikes all fired up to go. Ride Hard, Ride Smart, and Enjoy the Race!
