Track preparations are well underway for the 2016 Stay Upright Australian Supermoto Championship, set to kick off on July 29 in Mareeba.
The Far North Queensland Road Racing Club has been working hard in consultation with some of Australia’s best Supermoto riders preparing the dirt section of the MakoTrac International Racetrack to ensure a challenging event awaits competitors.
The 250m dirt section includes an extended berm incorporating two race lines. Riders will have a choice of taking the longer line high on the berm and maintaining speed or cutting the corner tight, shortening the corner but at a lower speed. The table top jump immediately after the berm will be a true test of all riders’ abilities.
Far North Queensland Road Racing Club Secretary Jason Allen says the track will definitely test the riding abilities of all the entrants.
"The 1345m bitumen section is very busy for the rider with only a short break along the main straight before leading into the tight ‘back section’ and then onto the 250m dirt section," he says.
"I am really looking forward to seeing the best of the best in Supermoto battling it out on track.”
