CQ Off Road Series kickstarts with Enduro-X at Yeppoon

The Keppel Coast Dirtbike Club (KCDBC) hosted the opening round of the 2016 Central Qld Off Road series in Yeppoon on Sunday, April 3.

The round attracted 73 competitors who battled it out for series points in what will be a five round series. This year, a variety of formats will be used, from EnduroX to sprints and pony express. Riders travelled from as far as Brisbane to ride the track that they enjoyed so much last year.

In 2015 the KCDBC diversified their facilities to create a "track within a track" when it was decided to build a permanent purpose built EnduroX track. The track has been carefully designed to weave in and off the MX track to create an exciting blend of Natural Terrain style MX sections and four section of man made obstacle sections: everything from rock pools, mining tyre obstacles, sand, and no less than 105 logs.

Every effort has been made to ensure the track was not going to be a "bike destroyer" and anyone who has ridden the track will agree this was achieved. The fully watered track is just on 1100m in length and comprises of 570m EnduroX and 530m of MX track.  The entire facility is able to be viewed well by spectators who are just meters away from all the action.

In August 2015 the KCDBC held the Yeppoon Enduro-X that was a great success, attracting riders from three states including seasoned riders like Fraser Higlett and Rob Nowak, and a number of local high class riders competing for $50,00 in prize money. The event was a real crowd pleaser, and KCDBC are gearing up to do it all again on August 20. This year, the event will be bigger and better, and promises not to disappoint!
