Lachlan Stanford looks towards the A4DE

Queensland Enduro #1 plate holder Lachlan Stanford updates us on the ISDE, Husqvarna Sprint Series and MotoFest ahead of the A4DE in Tasmania.

This last month has been very busy. I have been home a total of four days and the rest I have been racing or travelling to and from events. As I write this report I am back on the road, this time my destination is Tasmania for the Australian 4 Day Enduro.

The first event was the ISDE. This was my fourth year competing in the international event and my first time on the Senior World Trophy Team. This year the event was held in Kosice, Slovakia.

Although it is always a grueling event it is, definitely one of the highlights of my racing career. The Australian team all rode really well over the mountainous terrain, with no bike malfunctions and no serious injuries. Most of the tracks were steep ski slopes and on day five the rain came and made it wet and muddy.

My favourite day was day six- the final special test was a Motocross race. With the dramas that came with the French being provisionally reinstated into the event it was lots of fun banging bars and doing whatever it took to gain some time back on the French team. There is still a lot of talk and controversy over the disqualification and reinstatement of the French team but I am proud of how the whole Australian team stood on the top step where we belonged.

At the end of the six days I finished 6th in the E3 class. I would like to thank everyone that supports the ISDE and the Australian team and everyone for standing behind our TRUE victory.

Husqvarna Sprint Series

Round three of the Husqvarna Sprint series was held at Murphy’s Creek. The Toowoomba Motorcycle Club always holds a great event and this weekend was no exception.

After racing the Husqvarana FE 501 in Slovakia it took a few laps to adjust back to the power of the Husqvarna FE 350. The track was a long sprint track but due to the excellent organisation of the club, we were able to complete eight sprint laps. I was able to come home with a win followed by PD Allen in second and Kye Crosswell in third.  It was a great day racing and a real credit to Dave Wagner and the Toowoomba Motorcycle club.

Unfortunately I was unable to wrap up the Husqvarna Sprint series as Round Two, held at Conondale, was run whilst I was competing in Slovakia.

The following weekend I travelled to Boonah to attend MotoFest at Queensland Moto Park; the latest event to hit the racing calendar. The event was really well run, with different motorcycling disciplines including Enduro, Trials and MX, ran over one day in the same location.

On Saturday, the Boonah Township put on a great night of entertainment including; tyre-changing competitions, freestyle shows and stalls set up throughout the main street.

On the Sunday I competed in the three hour Enduro-X. The track started off dry and dusty but half way through the three hours the rain came and made the logs very slippery. It was great to bang bars with Beau Ralston (Activate Yamaha rider) who travelled from Sydney to compete in the event.

I finished the event in second behind Beau. I really enjoyed the event and hopefully more competitors can come out for a ride and help this great event to grow in the future.

I am now focusing on the final event for the year, the A4DE. I am travelling to Sydney to do some last minute testing and training before my team mate/ manager Glenn Kearney and myself travel over the strait to Tasmania. I am hoping to finish the year on a high and am sure that the 2015 Australian 4 Day will be a great event.

Until next time,
Lachy 46
