The Queensland Government has announced new funding opportunities open to grassroots clubs.
Local sport and recreation clubs not only promote the benefits of physical activity and a healthy wellbeing, they are a valuable asset to communities—to bring everyone together and create a friendly local environment. The Get in the Game initiative includes a variety of grants to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level, which include:
Get Started Vouchers—$15 million over three years for vouchers of up to $150 to assist children and young people who can least afford to join a sport or recreation club. The next round opens on on 15 July 2015.
Get Going Clubs
—$10.5 million over three years for funding of up to $7,500 for equipment and projects that improve access to sport and recreation activities. The next round opens on on 3 August 2015.
Get Playing Places and Spaces
—$33 million over three years for funding of up to $100,000 for new or upgraded sport and recreation facilities. The next round opens on on 3 August 2015.
Get Playing Plus
—$22.635 million over two years for funding between $300,000 and $1.5 million for new or upgraded sport and recreation facilities that meet regional and community needs. The next round opens on on 1 September 2015.

In addition to the fact sheets currently available, guidelines and application forms will be available at the above link in the coming weeks. The Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing will also be planning a number of community meetings across the region (details coming soon).
What should I do now?
Now is an ideal time for your organsiation to discuss its needs and identify potential projects that fit the above grants. Now is also a great time to:
• Register your club for Get Started Vouchers (by clicking here);
• Start planning your project using the resources available under the Planning Your Project link on the Get Going Clubs and Get Playing Spaces and Places web pages;
• Monitor the website regularly for more announcements and;
• Listen out for opportunities to attend a Get in the Game community meeting where you can get all of the details.
