The final round of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Series was run and won on the weekend of July 4 - 5 at Coolum, Sunshine Coast, and event promoter Robbie Marshall reflects on this year’s series:
Finally the weather gods allowed us to run the meeting after having to postpone the event two times earlier in the year.
Although the series had its hiccups with weather, it still showed why it is the biggest Motocross series in Queensland, with some great racing and competition with some of Australia's best racers competing at most rounds.
I feel there's definitely room for improvements with the series still, but with an early start to organising the 2016 series, I'm hoping we can go into the year one step forward.
The clubs all did a great job at every round this year. The tracks were prepped well.
I hope to see the series go to some different venues for 2016. The options are there again now with a few past clubs coming back on board. So it'll be great to have some options and be able to mix it up with different tracks each year. We hope to have a schedule set within the next couple of months to announce to riders.
A big thanks has to go out to all of our sponsors. Without them there definitely wouldn't be a series. Shell Advance especially for committing to the series for so long now!
Thanks to those competitors and families who support the whole series and I look forward to seeing you all at the track again soon.
