Toowoomba’s Sarah Guthrie took out the Senior Women’s Unlimited Championship at the conclusion of the two round Queensland Motocross Championships over the weekend 9June 27 -28).
Guthrie won four out of five motos throughout the series, with her best display at Tivoli’s final round. Mounted aboard a KTM 250SX this season, Guthrie has now held the number one plate for two consecutive years.
Brisbane’s Tamara Gray was runner up this year. Gray was positioned in third after the opening round at Rockhampton, but put in a solid showing at Tivoli. Gray, aboard her KTM 125SX, qualified fastest and went on to place 2-3-2 in her motos. A small last lap crash in her second moto cost a position to Nicole Kenny.
Moranbah’s Nicole Kenny, the only rider to snatch a moto win from Guthrie at Rockhampton, did her best at her first ever trip to Tivoli. The Yamaha YZ250 rider finished with a 4-2-3 moto score which wasn’t enough to stop a charging Tamara Gray. Kenny finished this year’s event with a third overall.
There were seventeen entrants across this year’s series. The top ten are awarded a state 1-10 plate, with the option of running that single digit next season. The recipients of these plates are listed below. Congratulations to those who dedicated their time and effort in to competing at this year’s events.
